I watched and listened to your video Joy. You are so articulate! I really enjoyed the cartoons and depictions as well. We are 'cartoon' collectors and have original drawings and cels from Horton Hears a Who and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas along with some other pieces. I wasn't as familiar with Dr. Seuss as a political cartoonist. It was a very nice example for the contemporary value of a rhetorical term.
This was an enjoyable and informative presentation, Joy. Political cartoons prove an excellent example of style. "A picture's worth a thousand words," right? The messages conveyed in visual formats like pictures and cartoons are often so simple, but they can spur a lot of debate and discussion on a given topic.
Oh the Places you have been... You effectively covered so much ground in 11 minutes. It is amazing how the context of the cartoons adds to the discussion. I am also thinking in terms of intertextual characteristics and concerns that are so present with Dr. Suess. Very nice job Joy- though know I can't get Green Eggs and Ham out of my head...
Am I doing something wrong? It's asking me to log-in to the Microsoft Exchange at Dixie.edu ...
